Villa Sassetti

Villa Sassetti is recognized by its prominent three-story circular stone tower, which features battlements and arched windows that evoke the medieval castles of northern Italy. Built into the hillside using local granite and terracotta, the villa was commissioned in eighteen eighty-five by Victor Carlos Sassetti, a hotelier who wanted a private summer retreat. He enlisted his friend, the architect and scenographer Luigi Manini, to design the estate. Construction took place between eighteen ninety and eighteen ninety-four.
