Chalet Saudade is a rose-colored, six-story mansion clinging to the hillside of the Vale da Raposa. Built between eighteen ninety and nineteen hundred, the house emerged during the urban expansion that followed the arrival of the railway in Sintra. Its architecture follows the alpine chalet style, a design imported to Portugal during the nineteenth century for summer holiday homes.
