Bab Makkah

Bab Makkah, or the Makkah Gate, stands at the eastern edge of the Al-Balad district as a three-arched structure flanked by two large, rounded turrets. It is a historical replica of the original gateway that once controlled access to the walled city of Jeddah. For centuries, this point marked the threshold for travelers and pilgrims arriving by sea at the Red Sea port, providing them passage toward the holy city of Mecca.
