Banys Àrabs

landmark

The Banys Àrabs, or Arab Baths, stand as a rare surviving piece of the city when it was known as Medina Mayurqa. Most of the Islamic structures that once defined this area were dismantled after the Christian conquest in twelve twenty-nine, yet this brick bathhouse remained, tucked into the grounds of what became the Can Fontirroig manor. You can identify the site by the small, quiet garden of palms and orange trees that hides the ancient masonry from the bustling lanes of the old town.
