Backstage Hotel Vernissage

The Backstage Hotel Vernissage is a structure of glass and steel that twists the form of a traditional mountain chalet. Designed by local artist and architect Heinz Julen, the building sits in the center of Zermatt and houses a complex that includes an art gallery, a cinema, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. The hotel opened in two thousand eleven, expanding upon a cultural center Julen had established in the basement of the site two decades earlier.
