The Pfarrkirche St. Mauritius in Zermatt is distinguished by its tall stone bell tower, which rises prominently above the surrounding rooftops in the center of the village. The current church was completed in nineteen sixteen, following a local vote in nineteen ten that overcame initial opposition from residents who preferred to maintain their older place of worship.
