The Grave of the Unknown Climber is located within the Mountaineers' Cemetery in the heart of Zermatt, tucked behind the village church. It is a simple memorial, easily identified by inscriptions in German, English, French, and Italian that honor the hundreds of individuals who have died on the Matterhorn since eighteen sixty-five.
