Africa House Hotel

The Africa House Hotel is recognizable by its expansive, sea-facing terrace that overlooks the Indian Ocean from the Shangani waterfront. This building began as the private residence of a wealthy Omani trader named Ibn Ismail, but it transitioned into a royal guest house for the Sultan’s family. In eighteen eighty-eight, it became the English Club, serving as a social hub for European residents and Royal Navy officers stationed in these waters.
