Jaw's Corner

Jaw's Corner is an open-air intersection in the heart of Stone Town where four narrow alleys converge. It is easily identified by the murals of a massive shark painted on the surrounding walls. While the name suggests a direct connection to the famous nineteen-seventies film, the title also carries a local double meaning: it refers to the animated, non-stop conversation among the men who gather here daily to drink spiced black coffee, argue over football, and debate local politics.
