Parliament Square

Parliament Square is easily identified by its collection of vibrant, coral-pink government buildings arranged around a central civic space. These structures, including the House of Assembly and the Senate, were built in the early nineteenth century by Loyalists who arrived in the Bahamas following the American Revolutionary War. By adopting the Georgian colonial style they knew from their former homes, these settlers created a permanent seat for the colonial administration that continues to function as the political heart of the country today.
