British Colonial Nassau

The British Colonial Nassau sits at the waterfront of downtown Nassau, distinguishable by its distinct colonial architecture of towers and galleries. It occupies the former site of the Old Fort of Nassau, which was constructed in sixteen ninety-seven to guard the harbor. This location later became central to the efforts of Royal Governor Woodes Rogers, who used the fort as his headquarters in seventeen eighteen to suppress the pirates that once dominated the settlement.
