Sham Castle

historic

Sham Castle stands on the skyline above Bath as a turreted, castellated screen that mimics the front of a medieval fortress. Built in seventeen sixty-two, this structure is a hollow stone facade consisting of a central pointed arch flanked by circular turrets and square end towers. It occupies a high position on Claverton Down, intended by its creator to serve as a scenic eye-catcher when viewed from the city below.
