Abbey Green

Abbey Green is defined by a massive London Plane tree that rises from the center of its cobblestone square. This tucked-away pocket of Bath is surrounded by Georgian buildings, including those once part of the monastery grounds that served the nearby Abbey. Long before the current square took its shape, this land held a medieval Bishop’s Palace, and deep beneath the cellars of buildings like the Crystal Palace pub, archaeologists have uncovered mosaic floors from Roman townhouses dating back to the third century.
