Hospital of St. John the Baptist

The Hospital of St. John the Baptist is identified by the quiet, orderly courtyard and the classical stone architecture that stands in contrast to the nearby bustle of the city. Founded around eleven eighty by Bishop Reginald Fitzjocelyn, it was originally built beside the Cross Bath hot springs to provide sanctuary and care for the poor and infirm who traveled here to seek the restorative power of the city's waters.
