Kimpton Clocktower Hotel

The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is defined by its massive, ornate clock tower that rises two hundred seventeen feet above the corner of Oxford and Whitworth Streets. This terracotta-clad landmark first opened in eighteen ninety as the headquarters for the Refuge Assurance Company. Designed by the renowned Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse—who also created London’s Natural History Museum—along with his son Paul and colleague Stanley Birkett, the building was constructed in stages over four decades.
