Grave of Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer

Carl Switzer, widely known as the mischievous Alfalfa from the Our Gang comedy shorts, lies here at Hollywood Forever Cemetery under a headstone etched with the square and compasses of Freemasonry and an image of a hunting dog. He rose to fame in the nineteen thirties as the freckle-faced boy with the signature cowlick, but his life ended in violence on January twenty-first, nineteen fifty-nine, when he was just thirty-one years old.
