The Hollywood Palladium is defined by its Streamline Moderne exterior, featuring a vertical pylon sign and two neon-outlined silhouettes of a man and a woman dancing on the facade. Built in nineteen forty on the former site of the Paramount Pictures studio lot, the venue was funded by Los Angeles Times publisher Norman Chandler and designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann. It was intended as a massive, futuristic dance hall capable of holding over seven thousand people.
