The Dolby Theatre is recognizable by the tall, white columns outside its entrance, which are inscribed with the names of every film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Opened in two thousand one as the Kodak Theatre, the venue was designed by David Rockwell specifically to host the annual Academy Awards ceremony. Its stage is one of the largest in the country, spanning over one hundred feet in width to accommodate the scale of the production.
