The Montalbán is a Beaux-Arts theater on Vine Street, recognizable by its vintage marquee and the rooftop terrace that overlooks the city skyline. Constructed in nineteen twenty-six and opened in January of nineteen twenty-seven, it was the first legitimate Broadway-style theater in Hollywood. Designed by architects Myron Hunt and H.C. Chambers, the building has operated under several names, including the Wilkes Brothers Vine Street Theatre, the Mirror Theatre, the CBS Radio Playhouse, and the Doolittle Theatre.
