San Carlos Cathedral, often called the Royal Presidio Chapel, is the oldest stone building in California. You can distinguish this Spanish Colonial structure by the intricate, hand-carved sandstone facade above its entrance, which features a prominent bas-relief of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This sculpture, created by master mason Manuel Ruiz, holds the distinction of being the oldest non-native work of art in the state.
