Casa Amesti

Casa Amesti is a two-story adobe house on Polk Street, recognizable by its whitewashed walls and the prominent wooden balcony that stretches across its front. Built in eighteen thirty-four by Jose Galo de Amesti, a Basque immigrant, the structure originally began as a single-story home. As the Amesti family prospered, they expanded the house upward, creating a design that blended Hispanic adobe traditions with the aesthetic styles of the American East.
