Lara-Soto Adobe

The Lara-Soto Adobe at four hundred sixty Pierce Street is distinguished by a large Monterey cypress tree standing in the front yard. Built in the eighteen thirties, the structure is one of the few properties from that era originally granted to a woman, Doña Feliciana Lara. Local lore suggests the cypress tree grew from a seedling planted over the grave of a child who died in infancy in an earlier house on the site.
