Little Italy Street Sign

The Little Italy Landmark Sign spans India Street with a design centered on blue neon lettering and cable supports. Dedicated in October two thousand, the structure features a nautical theme with portholes at the top of its pillars to honor the neighborhood’s origins as a major hub for the global tuna fishing and canning industry. That industry drew thousands of immigrants from Genoa and Sicily to this coastal area, where they lived and worked until the construction of Interstate Five in the late nineteen sixties disrupted the community.
