The Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier is recognizable by its sawtooth roofline and shifting colors, which transition between Jamaican Reef and Polar Flare depending on the angle of the sun. Completed in twenty-ten, this fifty-two-thousand-square-foot structure sits atop a pier first built in nineteen thirteen. While it functions as a cruise ship terminal when demand requires, the building is also an event venue designed to be lightweight enough for the original concrete pilings, which had to be seismically retrofitted to meet modern safety standards.
