The Gaslamp Quarter Archway spans Fifth Avenue as a six-ton steel gateway, illuminated by a combination of neon, incandescent, and fluorescent lights. Architects Harmon Nelson and David Ford conceived the design in nineteen eighty-six to announce the arrival of the neighborhood, and the structure was officially installed and dedicated in nineteen ninety-one.
