Allyne Park occupies a small, three-quarter-acre corner at Green and Gough streets, defined by a wood picket fence that separates its quiet lawn and winding paths from the surrounding neighborhood. This site was once the private estate of the Allyne family, featuring a Victorian mansion built in eighteen seventy-one. Sisters Edith and Lucy Allyne lived in that house their entire lives, maintaining a lush garden that eventually became the foundation for this public space.
