Goodman Building

The Goodman Building at eleven seventeen Geary Boulevard is an eighteen-sixties structure of mismatched additions and stories. It stands out for its labyrinthine, ramshackle appearance, a result of the many piecemeal renovations that took place after the nineteen oh six earthquake. Originally built for Joseph Emeric, the property was later purchased by Abraham and Sarah Goodman, who expanded the building to include ground-floor storefronts and additional residential apartments to meet the desperate housing demand following the city's destruction.
