The Chutes of San Francisco

The Chutes of San Francisco once occupied the entire city block bounded by Fillmore, Webster, Eddy, and Turk Streets. During the city’s reconstruction following the nineteen oh six earthquake and fire, this area became a major commercial hub, and in nineteen oh nine, Irving Ackerman brought his popular amusement park here. The park featured a signature water ride where visitors descended a steep flume into an artificial lake, alongside attractions like a dance pavilion, a vaudeville theater, and a zoo.
