Colombo Building

The Colombo Building is a triangular, two-story structure of reinforced concrete that occupies a sharp gore lot where Columbus Avenue, Montgomery Street, and Washington Street meet. Its curved facade marks a transition between the high-rise downtown to the south and the historic, human-scale neighborhoods of North Beach and Jackson Square to the north. Built in nineteen thirteen, the building was designed by architects James and Merritt Reid, who were also responsible for the Fairmont Hotel.
