Ancient Plants Walk

park garden

The Ancient Plant Garden within the San Francisco Botanical Garden is marked by hadrosaur footprints pressed into the paving. These tracks lead visitors along a path through deep time, beginning in the Devonian Period when simple plant life dominated, and moving forward to the Eocene epoch. The landscape is intentionally curated to mimic prehistoric ecosystems, featuring ancient lineages such as ginkgo, tree ferns, and cycads.
