Golden Gate Park

Golden Gate Park spans over one thousand acres of land that was once nothing but shifting, windswept sand dunes. Today, this massive rectangle of greenery stretches from the center of San Francisco to the Pacific Ocean, acting as a deliberate counterpoint to the dense urban environment around it. While the landscape now features lakes, meadows, and forests, its transformation from a barren, sandy expanse known as the Outside Lands began only in eighteen seventy.
