The Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park is defined by sixty rectangular flower beds that stretch toward Fulton Street. Dedicated on January eight, nineteen sixty-one, the garden was designed by assistant superintendent of parks Roy Hudson to provide a site for testing new rose varieties. It serves as a tribute to John McLaren, the longtime park superintendent who considered the rose his favorite flower.
