The Vollmer House is an exquisitely ornate Stick-Eastlake residence easily identified by its crowded façade and an unusual tower crowning the roof. Built in eighteen seventy-six, the structure was designed by brothers Samuel and Joseph Cather Newsom, who were known for their flamboyant architectural style. It stands today as a survivor of the massive urban renewal projects that swept through the Western Addition district during the nineteen sixties and seventies.
