The Metropolitan Club at six hundred forty Sutter Street is a six-story building clad in red brick with cream-colored terra cotta detailing and a red tile roof. Designed by the architectural firm Bliss and Faville and completed in nineteen seventeen, the structure reflects an Italian Renaissance Revival style modeled after Florentine palazzos. It is distinguished by an arched entryway that spans the first two stories, third-story corbelled balconies, and a two-story colonnade fronting a loggia on the top levels.
