The Boom Boom Room sits on the corner of Fillmore Street and Geary Boulevard, marked by an iconic neon sign. The building occupies the footprint of what was once Jack’s Tavern, a neighborhood institution that served the Fillmore district for decades. In the late nineteen nineties, a local bartender named Zander Andreas took over the lease, remodeled the space, and invited the legendary bluesman John Lee Hooker to lend his name to the venture.
