The Chambord Apartments, at the corner of Sacramento and Jones streets, is recognizable by its bulging, sculptural balconies and a profusion of ornate floral ironwork that gives the structure the local nickname, the Wedding Cake Building. Completed in nineteen twenty-one, the five-story building reflects a Beaux-Arts style that has led many passers-by to incorrectly attribute the design to the Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi.
