The Trocadero is a yellow, gabled building in the Stick-Eastlake style, featuring a central tower and a wrap-around porch. It is hidden within the forested gully of Sigmund Stern Grove, standing as likely the oldest structure in the southwest portion of the city. Built in eighteen ninety-two by George Greene, the inn originally served as a roadhouse for travelers heading toward Ocean Beach or Lake Merced.
