Oriental Warehouse

The Oriental Warehouse is a long, heavy brick structure defined by its thick, windowless masonry walls and expansive, weathered timber beams. Built in eighteen sixty-seven for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, this building functioned as the primary distribution point for coffee, tea, rice, and silk arriving in San Francisco from Asia. It is the last physical remnant of the company that pioneered regular trade, mail, and passenger service between the United States and the Orient.
