The Prelinger Library occupies the second floor of a nondescript building on Eighth Street, identifiable only by a call box in a small door alcove. Inside, the space houses tens of thousands of books, maps, periodicals, and printed ephemera, all arranged in a custom, stream-of-consciousness system that rejects traditional library classification.
