Ringold Alley

Ringold Alley, a narrow passage stretching between eighth and ninth streets in the South of Market district, is marked by sidewalk bulb-outs painted with the bold black, blue, and white stripes and red heart of the Leather Pride flag. For decades, this alley served as a late-night gathering spot for gay men, functioning as a hidden, dark destination for cruising after the bars along nearby Folsom Street closed for the night.
