Saint Boniface Catholic Church is a Romanesque Revival structure identifiable by its ornate, massive presence on Golden Gate Avenue. Construction of this building followed the nineteen oh six earthquake and fire, which destroyed the original church established on this site in eighteen sixty. The building served the German Catholic community of the city and remains under the care of the Franciscan order, which took over the parish in eighteen eighty-seven.
