The Hibernia is distinguished by its grand domed entrance rotunda that anchors the corner of Jones, McAllister, and Market Streets. Completed in eighteen ninety-two for the Hibernia Savings and Loan Society, the building was designed by Albert Pissis, the first San Francisco architect to study at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. Local artists of the time famously voted it the finest structure in the city.
