The Warfield Theatre is a brick building on Market Street, easily identified by the ornate Spanish Baroque architecture and the classic movie palace interior that hides behind its doors. When it opened on May thirteenth, nineteen twenty-two, it was the three-hundredth theater built by mogul Marcus Loew, who named the venue for his friend David Warfield, a San Francisco native and silent film star.
