The Temple, recognizable by the ninety-foot-tall corner tower topped with a golden ball, sits at the corner of twenty-fourth and Curtis Streets. Originally constructed in eighteen eighty-two as Temple Emanuel, this brick building served as the first major Jewish synagogue in the Denver area. Its eclectic Victorian facade, marked by Moorish and Romanesque details, has weathered over a century of change, including a significant fire in eighteen ninety-seven that led to a major reconstruction of its interior and exterior detailing.
