The Delano Miami Beach is recognizable by its tall, fourteen-story frame and the clean, vertical lines of its original nineteen-forty-seven facade. Designed by architect B. Robert Swartburg, it stands as an early example of the post-war Miami Modern style, originally built for a city entering a period of massive architectural optimism. Named for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the hotel opened with the slogan "Nothing Finer," a promise it kept by hosting notable figures in its terrazzo-floored lobby.
