The Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge stands three stories tall on Auburn Avenue, defined by its distinctive yellow-brick facade and a signature neon sign mounted at the corner. Completed in nineteen thirty-seven under the leadership of civic figure John Wesley Dobbs, the building was designed as a central base for the Prince Hall Masons, the oldest and largest fraternity of Black men in North America. Dobbs, often called the mayor of Auburn Avenue, envisioned this space as a hub for leadership and community progress during the era of segregation.
