Saint Anthony Main

other

Saint Anthony Main is characterized by its cobblestone street and a collection of buildings that feature exposed brick, stone, and timber. This area sits directly across from the only major waterfall on the Mississippi River, St. Anthony Falls. The structures lining the street date back to the eighteen fifties, when the village of Saint Anthony existed as a separate town from Minneapolis. By eighteen fifty-five, buildings like the Upton Block had been constructed, and the corridor functioned as a busy hub of warehouses and offices tied to the lumber and milling industries.
