Mill City Museum

museum

The Mill City Museum is defined by the heavy, weathered limestone walls of the Washburn A Mill, which rise from the riverbank as a charred, open-air shell. Opened in two thousand three, the museum is built directly into the ruins of what was once the world’s largest and most technologically advanced flour mill. The structure sits along the Mississippi River, where it originally harnessed the power of Saint Anthony Falls to grind enough grain to produce twelve million loaves of bread in a single day.
