The Guthrie Theater is instantly recognizable by its massive, inky blue facade, a hulking structure that stands in stark contrast to the historic brick flour mills surrounding it on the Minneapolis riverfront. Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and opened in two thousand six, this building houses three distinct stages and is defined by a one hundred seventy-eight-foot cantilevered walkway known as the Endless Bridge, which projects out toward the Mississippi River.
