Nicollet Island Inn

The Nicollet Island Inn is a limestone building featuring a random ashlar pattern, distinguishing it from the brick architecture common to the late nineteenth century. It sits on Nicollet Island in the Mississippi River, connected to downtown Minneapolis by the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. Originally constructed in eighteen ninety-three for the Island Sash and Door Company, the structure narrowly survived a fire that leveled most of the other buildings on the island less than a year after it was completed.
